What Every Woman is too strong to admit.

There are several reasons why women settle, and I am by no means saying its the way to go. As a matter of fact, I think that if you find your self relating to one of these reasons you are probably headed down a dangerous path that can do some long term damage in more ways that one. And you need to stop and reevaluate some things. Even though women have reasons, Settling should always be for pilgrims.

Going through something is better than going through nothing
Something always seems better than nothing.Even the two words themselves: Something < Nothing ... see. We all have at least one friend that thinks that history MAKES the relationship. 5 years of bullshit is somehow more comfortable that 6 months of singledom. The spying on, the cheating, the payback, "I am going to make him feel like he made me feel." The fighting, the making up, the crying. Women start to feel like because they have had such an emotional drain and it has cost them so much of themselves, its of some value, and worth holding on to. But it is what it is, history, and that's it.

The social pressures
People that are always dating and/or are married have a tendency to make a single woman feel like she need not be single. How many times have you heard this phrase, "That girl needs a man" or "I have a friend for you". And even if a girl is 21 the fear of dying alone or single crosses her mind.

Women expect men to hold up their end of the deal
Because women believe men and what they say, bad or good. The settling woman may expect a man to do what he promised, which is usually just "better". Or to somehow wake up one morning and think "Wow she is perfect for me and I can't live without her" But the truth is men don't usually naturally feel this way. Just ask a single black male .

The good 'ol fear of not doing any better than what they already have. The thought "Where am I going to find someone else that ____________( feel in the blank with BS), just like my boo. Then they start to do the process of elimination check list... Most men are, married, gay, down low or in jail, blah blag blah. And they leave off the most important part, "So I'll just stick with this guy that is really not that into me and can't give me what I need."

Comfort
Its so easy to stay with someone when you know all of their flaws,and they know all of yours. Its easy to live in the land of "nobody is perfect" And because we deal with flaws for so long, we become immune and think that we can or that we are supposed to deal with those flaws, even when we are not happy. Because you can't live without the back massages, you just have to live with verbal abuse. Not cool and not fair to yourself.

Men define Women
I know this is a hot one. but its the truth, even though it shouldn't be it is. Like Beyonce says, "Where yo boss at?" Prizes aren't just given for gp, they are given as reward for something or some contest. And a trophy wife is a prize, it reflects typically a man of high social status, and it usually increases the man's status, but it creates one for the wife. Ask Coco Ice T's wife.

When a woman is pregnant, and she wears no wedding ring, she is shunned. Its as if to say again, "Where yo boss at?" Nevermind the fact that she could have not wanted to be married, but wanted a baby. And please - lets look at the high school reunion or office party. When there is a round table and a woman has an empty seat next to her it looks way worse than her having the seat filled, even if the guy is a jerk. Its crazy and so sad. And when men get married, they are looked at by other men as a victim. But when women get married, they are looked at by other women as the winner. Like they went deep water fishing and caught a 10 foot bass, and you know I ain't lying.

No sense of self worth/ Low self esteem
Well if a person doesnt think they are worth more, then they won't try to get more, and will settle for less. So many women are so insecure, they don't even know what men see in women at all and a settling woman will take what she can get. This usually stems from the following:

Unresolved Daddy Issues

We hear a lot of crazy stuff in psychology, but this theory never fails. Women fall for their fathers. A lot of women suffer from abandonment, attention, and or abuse issues that started with daddy. And if their father is not around still doing the damage that was already done, a settling woman will find the PERFECT man to feel that void. Instead of doing better, they settle for their own sense of normalcy.

And I digress... Is it because she was a foster kid and became a movie star, and model? I mean she had a HELL of a modeling career, record breaking magazine covers and pinups! .. That's what introduced her to TV, and JFK etc etc.. But what is it that you(we).. I guess, LOVE??

I am always intrigued by an amateur, single, relationship counselor because nine times out of ten, they don't know what the hell they are talking about, but for some reason WE FLOCK to them... b/c we just HAVE to know what someone else thinks, we need to know, it gives us the "inside scoop" or the perspective of the average local yocal, which is actually who we are and who we date. So no disrespect to the PHD's and counselors of the world but... the good shyt is right here!

Didi's Don't Do List

This is one of those lists you wish you could read, without saying, yea... I shouldn't have done that.

1. Never ask a guy out
2. Never advertise (don't brag about yourself! let him find out for himself once he invests time)
3. Never do house dates (Ummm, that dude will keep you in the house if you settle for the house)
4. Never pressure him into introducing you to friends/family
5. Never try to control anything but yourself ( Hey, he knows that actions speak louder than words and if his actions say he wants to leave....bye boy)

So... I was shooting the shit with a few friends and well one got so passionately angry when she started thinking about a conversation she heard earlier that day, and I understand why. Sometimes I just want to say ... "Ahem, and what do you actually mean when you say the word ghetto?" Well lets answa that shall we?

Doing my in-depth research (Wikipedia) I came across a couple of definitions and here they are lets compare:

There use to be a time when you could have fun at a party without alcohol. You may not remember it but it was here. You didn't "drink" at your first sleepover, birthday party, or boy-girl party. Now the drink IS the party, it doesn't matter how good the music is, how many good friends you are around, if you don't have that cup, and getting all the way fucked up, you read ta go. There was a time when you would get more excited about an empty bottle, 'cause you just needed it to spin. Ya dig? Now- we are at an age where we have moved far past that point of excitement that comes with ordering a drink just because you can. That memory of not knowing or caring about the alcohol content or the taste of whatever the hell you would drink, It didn't matter, what mattered was... you could drink. CHEERS! And even though you were drinking way before 21... umm hmmm.... the excitement still came when you could whip out that ID and smile. BUT that moment has passed, and you still be drunk off yo ass. You are no longer having young wild fun, you're grown. That ten year high school reunion is a niiiiice little sign of exactly that. So in light of this event I decided to create a little check list... If you relate to two or more of these ideologies please step away from the bottle.

Another fine brother from another mother doing his music thing and doing it proper in this area. His name is Incwell. His bio says that he has been known to have a "Universal Appeal" He is the chameleon of Hip Hop! INC can appeal to soooo many types of genres. Soooo I was curious...First thing I wanted to know...

How did you come up with your name?

I used to stay home and write, write, write all day everyday! So, eventually I started to write very well! Hence, Ink well, but I decided to spell it with a C!

And your symbol?
I always liked Batman! He was always my favorite cartoon/comic character! I identify with his plight. He loves Gotham but it seems as if Gotham doesn't love him back! But no matter how much they turn their back on him at the end of the day Gotham needs him. More then not I feel like the DMV needs me but they don't want me. That's just how I feel as an Artist!

I think you are right, I think the DMV does need you, I don't necessarily think they don't want you, I want to say they don't know you. And I think you have the appeal and the charisma to cross over all types of lines and blend where blending is needed without washing out or "insulting" a specific genre! Your passion is felt my brother, as a matter of fact...

1) What is your passion?

Music is definitely my #1 passion! In my younger years it was sports but as I got older and no taller I realized the NFL and NBA were probably out of the question! lol.

Ahhhh a free spirit, an artist.

2) Who inspires you?
My Grandmother is definitely my biggest inspiration! She's amazing. She kept my strong and on the straight&skinny when things could of gone the other way! Though I've had a lot taken from me she makes up for it all and then some!

INCWELL's flow is unique, and men of his age, area and generation don't typically like the same shyt he likes. An open mind with a fresh canvas.. hmmm I can dig it.
3) Describe your best on-stage moment thus far? What about your best off-stage moment?

I enjoy looking out into the crowd every show and seeing the diversity! That's really every show but it never gets old to me. As far as off stage I guess it's when people I've never met tell me they love my music or it inspired them.

It's a very very proud moment for me!

4) Who have you worked with?
I've worked with a lot of local artist and international artist as well! But as far as already famous cats zilch!

5) Is there anyone that you really want to work with?

I really want to work with my favorite artist Citizen Cope! He's a real breath of fresh air out here!

INCWELL is more than music, he constantly gets praise for his work in the streets, or keeping kids off the streets, I should say. I mean this guy voluntarily coaches youth basketball, teaches an after-school creative "HIP- HOP" writing class! ~~DAMN I WANT A TAKE IT!!!! Watch my skills... "Fikki fikki, bom stickidy bum bum.. wait OK, back to INC~~ He works with nonprofit organizations and does more volunteer work in a month than the average person, probably does a year.... He was officially recognized by The Washington Post in 2006 and received the highest honor by being named 1 of 10 Black Men in the Nations’ Capitol to Represent a Pulitzer Prize winning series entitled “Being a Black Man.” AND YES! he will mentor, he visits youth centers and does motivational speaking..all dat. damn. I love that.

6) If you could give some advice to a younger DC person who has decided to pursue a career in music, what advice would you give them?

I'd say keep your head up! This area will destroy your passion and love for what you do. If you can keep that intact through all the BS you will have a chance. I feel there is no exact science to penetrate this market. It's a overwhelming and very bleak truth of living in this area!

7) When your audience members and supporters see you what do you want to be the first thing that comes to their minds? What image do you want them to be left with?

I just hope they see a real person! Something true, a honest reflection of my music. An inspiration!

8) If you had to describe yourself in with one word it would be, ________ .

Universal! I think that's the best way to describe myself, You can put me anywhere with any crowd and I'm gonna find a way to rock them!TEST

DC LOCAL ARTIST STANDS UP: Who is WES FELTON?

To kick off my series of local artist worthy of recognition I decided to go with THIS GUY, W. Ellington Felton (Don't you just love the way that name sounds... so profound...) Well here is my thought.. if you never seen this guy perform, you are definitely missing out on something special DAMN!

He is definitely one of my favorites!

So... his interview went exceptionally well! As a matter fact after interviewing people sometimes, the responses seem to get redundant or cliche like OH GAWD..... I KNOW WHATS COMING NEXT somebody shoot me, my favorite line "MY music is real" when its really some bullshit. You don't get that problem with Dub, here we have a cultured, intelligent, sensible black man that really loves what he does and is actually talented in his field; because you know its so rare to get the two Talent and Passion, we usually get stuck with one or the other. So naturally, now a nig is curious...

1) I know you sweat blood and tear music and art, but you do so many things; comedy, open mic, sing, rap, art, emcee, etc etc etc. Is there any one thing that you consider your passion?

Theatre is what actually got me focused as a teen. When I was 15 I got a scholarship to The Chataqua Institute’s Summer Theatre program. It was there that I fell in love with Shakespeare, Moliere, Athol Fugard and August Wilson. It was at 15 acting as a tool for change and influence became my passion. Still is. I still act but, mostly for projects that I really feel or my friends and I produce and direct.

2) Besides your father, who inspires you?

Life in general inspires me. I tend to search for common FLAWS that we share as humans to feature in my art. Those are the things that we often use to abuse or take advantage of others, so why not use those things to unite us instead of divide? Most folks believe that being perfect makes them a better human when it actually makes you less of a human. My son inspires me for sure. Well, he at least inspires me to get up and go on with my day most of the time.

3) Describe your best on-stage moment thus far? What about your best off-stage moment?

I did 8 shows in Tokyo with Raheem, so how about 8 best on-stage moments? LOL. I’m not sure really. As a performer, I always try to show the audience “in the moment” creativity. So, when I feel that I’ve confidently represented myself as an individual when a show is done, that’s when I feel great about performances. There was a show I did with Alice Smith in DC where the audience was completely packed and engaged to my music. That’s very rare in DC. If you are “unknown” and looking for hyped DC crowd… think again…lol. I have too many great off-stage moments to give one the props. But, when Chris Rock and Prince Paul contacted me to work on his “Never Scared” record was definitely high on the ranks! I remember walking into a studio in the middle of time square. I got off the elevator and walked around the corner into the studio. I heard a voice say “Aww W. Ellington Felton, It smells like poetry in this mothafucka”. I looked up and it was Chris Rock in the booth! Great off stage moment.

Ya see, its one thing when, a local supporter recognizes talent, but its another when a star is impressed, one that loses nothing and gains nothing by supporting you still feels compelled to make a statement, and recognizes TALENT even when they see it every day and all day. That's wassup!

4) Who have you worked with?

5) Is there anyone that you really want to work with?

I would love to work with Beady Belle, Prince, the Rhythm Roots All Stars, ZZ Top, Soul-Live, and maybe Kanye West. I wrote a song about Kanye back in the day called “Dear Kanye”. A lot of folks naturally took that joint as a diss record but, it was actually a letter to him in the language he speaks and influences others with. It was like Malcolm’s letter to Martin. “Am I my brother’s keeper”? I always had a vision of him even producing that tune. I know that’s far fetch but, I think we make music that he never imagined for himself. But, I think that song offended him, his crew, and fans, so he will most likely never work with me. LOL

6) A few years ago I overheard you express a strong appreciation for women; so please elaborate. We are listening...

A lot of artist, men and women are making music for kids or immature adults. Some men sing songs about women and they don’t even like women. A lot of women make music about men but, don’t like men. Not saying a person can’t screw, save, or sing to whom they want but, I’m a truth seeker. Being an Honest artist to me means transparency and no illusions. So, when I sing a song about a woman it’s a true story. Unfortunately people are scared of truth because there is a lot of ugly in the truth. But, I love women so much that I demand high standards from them and only want them to be the best. Society has tricked us to believe that when a man calls a woman out on her shit that it’s somehow a bad thing. It creates a belief that women should have high expectations of others and low self expectations. I love women so much that I’m willing to take time to tell them specific behavior that often turns men off that they may not be aware of. I don’t refer or compare them to objects. I’m not sure if this is even making sense but, a lot of Male and Female artist are lying to women and men about what we desire of each other. I want to remind women that there still men out here who don’t use the TV as research on learning about women. It takes actual experiences and conversations between each other. I want to be an artist that re-introduces women to men and vice versa. Not for the sake of lust and love but, for the overall health and happiness of Mankind.

My thought at this very moment... " I wonder if this guy is single..." lol sheeeesh

7) When your audience members and supporters see you what do you want to be the first thing that comes to their minds? What image do you want them to be left with?

A lot of them love the fact that I never sell out my morals and core values in order to make people like me. I think in many ways I represent the “individuals” and persons longing to be individuals but, may not have the platform or support system to allow them to live as an individual. As far an image goes? Folks are going to view you however they want and it’s usually a 45% chance of being dead wrong. 45% of them settle for a perception of me. 5% of them are in denial of who I am. Then there’s that 5% who get me instantly! LOL I guess that’s why I don’t surround myself with too many folks. I want them to see their reflection on stage.

I just finished a new record called Ellington International produced by Jason Orr and Craig Love from Soul of Earth. Soul of Earth is a crew I’m proudly a member of that consist of N’Dea Davenport, Omar, CC Sunchild, Dionne Farris, Carl McIntosh, Caron Wheeler and a few other trail blazing artist. Well I stumbled upon some good ~~shit, I mean~~ hair. And life is always better when you find WHAT we have ALL BEEN looking for. I feel like I just found the fountain of youth, or the fountain of beauty, lol, damn, I just found the fountain of weave. I mean everyone gives all their money to Remi or Remy or to whoever the hell is we hear is "it". Well honey, Let me tell you something, I done found the golden key to the five star chick weave. And its called Indiva Hair. So I wrote the owner an e-mail because I wanted to know what inspired her to bless us all with the presence of that good good hair for a good good price, in multiple quantities! I mean she got it coming STRAIGHT from India RIGHT HERE in the Washington DC Metro area.. Whiskey Tango Foxtrot.

What was the inspiration?

The inspiration for the name Indiva as a company comes from the word Diva. The origin of the word diva is a word that was used to describe a talented female. Every woman has special talents and gifts. When one recognizes those gifts and talents and then learns to refine them they can be used for their given purpose which is to uplift, inspire, and bring joy. That is the inspiration for Indiva to uplift, inspire, and bring joy.

So for all the divas, and definitely the wanna-be divas you need to call my new best friend Erika @ Indiva, lets step that weave-game up!!

And I know weave is everywhere, believe it or not, I saw some in CVS in the cosmetic aisle. But she tells us why THIS hair is special.

Ain't Nuttin Wrong Wit Being Single

After my last article "Is It Time To Tie Knot?" , I found out some people loved my article, and others not so much. I want people to laugh and still live in reality. I gave you ten signs that show that you may or may not be ready for marriage, but by no means was I trying to say that marriage is for everyone, and I definitely didn't mean to insinuate that just because you got your 30 and over club card, that you must settle down. Typically when we settle down in a rush, we settle. And my girl Nikki B says, "Settling is for Pilgrims" . So for all of you oversensitive settlers, that have been crying in corners because you and your so-called siggy don't have a relationship that seems to be marriage bound-you may need to stop crying and get-up off your ass and get as far away from that not-so-compatible-siggy as possible! You have been forcing yourself to deal with a non compatible person for comfort purposes. Most non-working relationships are no reflection of an individual's character but just confirmation that the two shouldn't be. (Unless of course your relationship is fairly new and you haven't had enough time to develop a bond that would give you all of the factors that deem your relationship potentially engagement-ready. If that is the case this by no means applies to you). But to all you others that been living on La Nina, La Pinta, and the Santa Maria, let me be the first to tell you that it Ain't Nuttin' Wrong Wit Being Single!

SO... with that said, here are ten reasons why Aint Nuttin' Wrong, Aint Nuttin Wrong, Ain't Nuttin Wrong!!( No particular order)

1) No one just randomly asks you, " [sigh] What are you thinking?"

Whiskey Tango Foxtrot! Who the hell started saying that and why???? You just sitting on the edge of the bed enjoying some good 'ol ~~trashy, shouldn't be on TV~~ reality show, and you look up cuz' your siggy wants to know what you are thinking. Ugggg Seriously? "Well...uhh"... I am thinking that Natalie may not run LA but she sure do run all the girls in the house." Wut...what do you want from me? Sheeesh!

2) Food for 1

When you grocery shop (or not for that matter), you only have to shop for one! ONE kind of cereal, ONE kind of salad dressing, and ONE kind of sauce for those cook at home nuggets that you are about to put in the oven. You know the ones that you tried to throw in your cart real quick so no one will see. And after you cook them, you better make sure that you get rid of the box IMMEDIATELY cuz you might be having company. Why not, YOU are single.

3) You ARE the Story

Instead of having to wait to go to work the next day and IM and email to hear what fun and exciting things your single friend(s) did the night before. You will be the one not only providing the story but actually living the time of your life! If you decide to go to Up and Up, cool, Recess, cool. (YES THOSE ARE SHOUT OUTS) You can do whatever you like, whenever you please. You do not have to censor yourself out of respect for anyone but yourself...that's right- you are the STORY! by the way call me and let me know what you doing tonight. lol

4) Your friends ONLY

Have you ever wondered how in the hell, your siggy is such a good, beautiful person, and they just hang out with the most unperson-able, ignorant, manipulating, using, whining ass friends you have ever seen???Well, when you are single, your ignorant, manipulating, using whining ass friends will be the only ones you have to deal with.

5) "The peak of the plateau phase of the sexual response cycle, characterized by an intense sensation of pleasure..." can happen as often a you please!

That's right people you can have as many orgasms and courtasms you can literally get your hands on! You don't need permission, make your own decisions, you can just go for the gusto baby, all day long, all day strong. If you like, you can also partake in the sexual smorgasbord that is Washington DC , and hook up with whoever you want, when you want, as often as you want. And, the opposite also applies. Some people don't have huge sexual appetites, and that is fine. You don't have anyone begging you for some, and you don't have to worry whether or not they are going to get it from somewhere else because your libido is low this week (But if that IS you, please refer HERE ~~because boo ya got a problem~~).

6) Decency is Relative and YOU Define It

Decency doesn't matter. If you want to leave your clothes all over the apartment and sing loudly and out of tune, no one cares but you ~~and any neglected fish you may still have dying a slow death in that dirty fish tank~~. You don't have to walk around holding your stomach in, and trying to find cute outfits to sleep in. If you want to leave the toilet seat up, YAY! no one cares. If you want to leave the toilet seat down, YAY! no one cares. If you're overly eco-friendly and you want to flush it down if its brown, and let it mellow if its yellow, baby YOU GOT IT!

7) Your embarrassing stuff can be where you need it and not where you have to hide it

Relax! its okay, no one is watching! that Emergency track needle and thread can stay right on the bathroom sink! Athletes foot? Stinky shoes? Toe Fungus? GREAT! Leave that Lamisil right in the bathroom mirror! Use it everyday and don't forget to take your antibiotics! You don't have to be embarrassed by your extra absorbent super tampons ANYMORE honey. You are single and able to do what you have to do for you! :)

8) Lack of Ambiguity

You don't have to worry about the things you don't know about. A potential siggy could have so many skeletons in his/her closet, and so much baggage right in front of the closet, but you don't have to open that door because there is nothing in it for you. You don't have to worry about someone surprising you with a baby, anotha siggy other than yourself, an STD, a surprising TRUE sexual orientation, NADA! What you see is what you get, YOU FIRST! So many people stress over things like this and really pry, its not even necessary. THANK GOD you are single!

9) Funds, Chips, Coins, Coinage, Dough, Finances, Bankroll, Green, Legal Tender, Loot, Cheese, Pesos, the Almighty Dollar...

Did you know that finances are the number one reason for divorce? And when you don't have to worry about what someone else is bringing to the table, then you don't have to worry about it. You can keep your money in your pocket or spend it on what you please however you please.You even got a little extra dough to use as TP ya dig? A marriage tax penalty ain't nothing to write home about. And kiss anniversary presents goodbye.. Leave that to the little miss happy couples that posts all of their Hey-look-at-me-and-my-perfect-family-pics up on Facebook, while you just randomly decide to hit up the mall.

10) EVERYTHING IN YOUR HOUSE IS YOURS!

You can appreciate a one bedroom apartment at its full potential. If you want to break a mirror or have a house party every night, ain't no thang but a chicken wang. All of your clothes fit in your closet perfectly, and you have 1 load of laundry instead of two. Single life eliminates any potential fight over a remote control, and the preset channels are just where you want them.You can play that CD that you know you should not have in your collection and sing your heart out.

The married life may be or may not be overrated but, the single life has been shunned upon for way too long. I just wanted to tell you that its okay to be single. Both sides have their pros and their cons, and nine times out of ten, you won't be single forever, so if you are, enjoy it, and don't play house because you may get stuck there. Pick a side play for a while. And don't forget to call me and let me know what you are doing tonight!

Well ladies and gentleman... we have come to that point in our lives where we areALL damn near thirty or damn near forty... so with that said, I have taken it upon myself to make a little checklist of when you know its time to tie the knot. And honestly it may be time to roll if you THOUGHT you could check some of these items off and your siggy (significant other) isn't on the same page. Sorry, but I don't think you should wait forever for someone to come around because first and foremost timing is everything, but you know that already because the fact that you are reading this means that you are already in a stable relationship and not lying to yourself... right? Cool.

Sign Number 1: YA WANNA DO EACH OTHA... ALL THE TIME

Seriously, You MUST be sexually attracted, to your siggy, if you aren't when those hormones kick in, and those desires grow, your mind and eyes will wander, and where the mind goes the body follows. Don't set yourself up to be an unfaithful cheater. Then all you'll do is fall into a huge state of depression and misery. WTF

Sign Number 2: YOU ARE NOT JUST TWIRK BUDDIES, BUT ALSO BFF's

Just because you can hang on to each other doesn't mean you should be together. People often get stuck in a relationship because of comfort and habit, and they don't want to spend the time to get to know someone else.That doesn't mean that couple actually likes each other. Time passed doesn't mean you get along, if you argue to the point where you are upset everyday, or get into a serious argument every week... not cool. If you really don't like the person, then you know it, and its time to stop lying to yourself. Why would you want someone you don't even like? Where dey do dat at?

Sign Number 3: YOU LOOKED DEEP, BEFORE YOU LEAPED

You have to make sure you know the person, and I am not talking about you knew lil' Mikey in kindergarten, or you have had a long distance relationship since 2007 and ya only see your boo once a month. That's equivalent to a couple that just met five weeks ago and live in the same neighborhood and see each other every day. I don't wanna see anyone on Judge Maybeline talking 'bout they ain't know that they siggy was a jiggy and been liven' off of women for 15 years, and lil' pookie n' dem on the playground are really his children.

Sign Number 4: D BIBLE SAYS, YOU MUST BE EQUALLY YOKED!!!!

In the words of Fire Marshall Bill, "Lemme tell you somethin'... " Being on the same page religiously or spiritually is a MUST! If you think God or a statue, or a rat, should determine how you live your life, or whatever's your pleasure, your siggy MUST feel the same way or you two will always be going in different directions because you just don't agree, you have different beliefs. If you and your partner are not religious at all, fine, but you still have some world issues to discuss, for example: Let's say.... you think Michael Jackson was the greatest icon of all time and you want your kids to know him as an icon and you have already stocked up on MJ bibs and onsies, and your siggy thinks he is a child molesting psycho perv, and that his name should be kept far away from the chillins as possible. YOU-MAY-HAVE- A-PROBLEM.

Which leads me to the next point...

Sign Number 5: EQUAL LIFE PLANS

If you want to move to Africa and raise your children for 15 years, and your siggy still doesn't want to leave the south side of DC because s/he was born and raised there, and they still the same old g. YOU-MAY-ALSO-HAVE-A-PROBLEM. Ya gotta have the same life plans.

Sign Number 6: YOU DON'T SPEND THE TIME JUST PASSING TIME; YOU PLAY WELL TOGETHER

Of course we can all pass the time and just pretend we are getting along and say, " I am chillin' wit my girls today!", and go out to the mall Or, I am chillin' wit my boys today!", and you leave to go shoot some hoops. But what about chillin' with each other? And this by no means just refers to just sexual intercourse, Sign Number 1, won't get you all the way through a marriage.Two people in a relationship can actually like doing the same things, and it happens, its a part of compatibility. It's not just a coincidence for some, and it should be a major thing for all... think about it.

Sign Number 7: Captain Obvious says, "YOU BOTH WANT 2 BE MARRIED!"

Don't try to persuade someone into marriage that still wants the single life, because they may come on your side of the fence and go through the motions for a little while, but chances are they'll go right back. A lifestyle is for a lifetime, someone either wants to change it and commit to you or they don't. Make sure that's what you want too. And for the fellas out there let me just say this; if you have been living a married life for over a year, chances are YOU are ready, and you are in denial. If you think you have an image to maintain, chances are that image went out the window longggg time ago, when ya moved in together and gave her your credit card pin number... get over it.

Sign Number 8: YOU ARE TOGETHER AS AN INDIVIDUAL

I mean don't get me wrong we all have our issues, that we will be working on forever, no one is perfect. But ya gotta make sure that you are comfortable with you. I am talking, physically, spiritually and mentally. How's that self-esteem? If you got some deeeep issues like, you feel like jumping off a bridge from time to time, or have thought out an elaborate plan to kill your siggy, ~~or you magically acquire new heroine track marks on a regular basis~~, now just might not be the right time to be a part of a union. Because you are weak on your own end, and if you love someone, why would you want to burden them like that?

Sign Number 9: YOU TRUST YOUR PARTNER

Yes I said it, and I meant it, TRUST. You don't jump and wonder when his/ her phone rings who is calling. And know as an adult that you aren't being STUPID for not caring, but because you already know there is no need to go through those text messages, and check that Facebook inbox because there is nothing there. Please don't confuse this for knowing that there is something to find there and you just don't want to find it. You know the difference.

Sign Number 10: YOUR PARTNER TRUSTS YOU

Yes, I said it, and I meant it again, TRUST x 2! It takes two to tango baby. Are you trustworthy? Does your partner know it for sure? Do you focus a lot of energy on some one other than your partner? Like that co-worker you were just talking about...or Keisha's boyfriend's friend? Be honest with yourself, be fair, don't jump into a commitment when you are only going to have one foot in the door, I mean that is TOTALLY unfair, not only are you a bad siggy but a bad friend, with a siggy like you, who needs a relationship? We can all be one foot in the door and one foot out with others that's called the dating game, and that's for the single world, know the difference.

Either way people, you can't change how you feel, and you can't make someone else change how they feel. Feelings come naturally. Make sure you both want to jump ova the broom, cuz one of you all might pick that joint up and fly away on it, while the other one is left behind singing "Emotional Rollercoaster" by Vivian Green, or hell, "I got 99 problems..." by Jay Z. Be careful, no need for a WTF! --- Setset

Unfortunately I have to report that WE are again at a loss, so far over 700 people have died in this tragedy, ANOTHER earthquake has hit Chile.This earthquake measured at an 8.8 on the Richter scale. WTF!

Unfortunately, this is not the first time an earthquake of this magnitude has hit Chile. May of 2010 marks the 50 year anniversary (not so much a celebration) for the largest measured earthquake to have occurred on this planet, also in Chile.The Validivia Earthquake , also known as the great Chilean Earthquake, was measured at 9.5. Here is some disturbing footage from that.

I have not been around since 1960 so i don't remember it first hand. But I do remember Haiti, considering it just happened a few weeks ago. Some of these people have seen and suffered both of the tragic earthquakes of Chile. If we do or if we don't have some huge celebrity spokesperson vouching for the people of Chile and vouching for the people of Haiti, honestly we all know, that shit doesn't matter. People are dying left and right, and if they aren't dying, their friends and family are. And if their friends and family aren't dying their house is gone, their pets are gone, their stores are gone, their beds are gone, their showers are gone, and they are lost, scared, confused, helpless. Their hopes are at an all time low, and their fears and depression are at an all time high. They need us. Lets not forget the people of Chile, and lets not forget the people of Haiti. It could have been us.

RECESS: THE PLAYTIME EVENT FOR US!

So my boy, J. Ford, and his partners have a boutique event planning firm that has come up with an idea that has taken DC by storm... Its an event called "Recess" Recess, is an alternative to the regular club. Its a game night mixed with a party atmosphere. Recess draws people from all races and backgrounds and age groups.And they play all types of music, so NO ONE is stuck listening to one genre, ~~or crap~~. They have had mothers and sons and entire families come out to recess and enjoy playing games! Its not over the top, and its not boring. PERFECT for a lounge-goer that's just looking for a change of scene Jason says its, "...Adults having fun, playing games, and being kids again!"

Lemme tell you some more details about the the Firm, Its called Host-DC and the four owners are Jayson Ford, Keith Lansdown, Rashad Wilson, and Rita Lewis!

The first recess was held on April 18th, 2009 at Continental Modern pool lounge, its a reoccurring monthly event, and I don't thin anyone should miss any of them.

I asked my boy Jason, "How did you come up with the idea?" And this was his answer.. "We were hosting parties and had heard from several people that wanted to go out but weren't interested in the club/lounge scene. We came up with the concept of recess and decided to test it out..."

Wanna know what I heard? I heard it is also THE EVENT for singles in the mid 20's to mid 30's, you can actually talk to people!

On January 12, 2010 at 4:53 pm, Haiti was struck by a magnitude seven earthquake. I am not sure if you know what that means but we measure Earthquakes on the Richter and Mercalli Earthquake scale. www.Mistupid.com offers a chart and an explanation for that measurement scale, here it is below:

Richter and Mercalli Earthquake Scale

The Richter scale was created in 1935 by the American seismologist Charles F. Richter. It measures how much the ground shakes 60 miles from the earthquakes epicenter. Richter magnitudes increase logarithmically, meaning the energy increases 10 times for each magnitude number.

Mercalli intensity is based upon observations of the resulting earthquake damage and not actually measured on instruments. Invented by Italian seismologist Giuseppe Mercalli.

100,00 people have been pronounced dead so far, and the search continues. President Obama has been and is continuously making effort to RUSH AID, and troops to Haiti. He wants to dedicate the first 72 hours to saving lives. I am just so devastated about this that I think even I expect too much from the world, I wish that I could travel. I wish other countries besides United States and Venezuela would assist. I am not satisfied with the effort. Some people think I should be. I know we are doing the best job that we can, but I just wish we could do more.

I am proud to say that there are some people that are dedicated to helping. Wyclef Jean the Haitian-American multi-platinum musician, rapper, and record producer has flown to Haiti through the Dominican Republic, as there are no direct flights at this time. He urges everyone to PLEASE help. Here is his statement:

"Haiti today faced a natural disaster of unprecedented proportion, an earthquake unlike anything the country has ever experienced. The magnitude 7.0 earthquake-and several very strong aftershocks -struck only 10 miles from Port-au-Prince. I cannot stress enough what a human disaster this is, and idle hands will only make this tragedy worse. the over 2 million people in Port-au-Prince tonight face catastrophe alone. We must act now. President Obama has already said that the U.S. stands 'ready to assist' the Haitian people. the U.S. Military is the only group trained and prepared to offer that assistance immediately. They must do so as soon as possible.The international community must also rise to the occasion and help the Haitian people in every way possible."

Apparently, the $1.73 million dollar cost of this concert is a buck too much for the island to handle. Her concert would use up funds set aside for the Carnival.
